Set in the Pacific Northwest of the 1870s, it combines the historical with the fantastical.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alan-rose.com\/wordfest\/?attachment_id=685\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-685\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-685\" src=\"http:\/\/www.alan-rose.com\/wordfest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Froelich.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.alan-rose.com\/wordfest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Froelich.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.alan-rose.com\/wordfest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Froelich-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Local folklorist <strong>Leslie Slape<\/strong> talked with Jamie about his book recently on KLTV\u2019s <strong>Book Chat<\/strong>. You can watch the interview\u00a0here:<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/alan-rose.com\/bookchat\/december-2016-a-chat-with-jamie-duclos-yourdon\/\">Book Chat.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alan-rose.com\/wordfest\/?attachment_id=686\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-686\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-686\" src=\"http:\/\/www.alan-rose.com\/wordfest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/David-Martin-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"185\" height=\"229\" \/><\/a>David Martin <\/strong>will be reading from <strong><em>The Secret of the Lake<\/em><\/strong>, first in his six-book Middle Grade fiction series, titled <strong><em>The Adventures of Sugar Dog,<\/em><\/strong><em> about \u201cone very special dog and four\u00a0boys who are at that magical age of twelve.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>There are rumors of old treasure buried out near the lake just west of Capeview.\u00a0\u00a0When a book on the town\u2019s history is stolen from the public library, several strange events and the boys\u2019 curiosity lead to a frightening encounter with the hermit who lives on the spit between the bay and the ocean.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>David is a singer, songwriter, musician, poet, disc jockey and news reporter, based in Astoria.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There will be an open mic period following the presentations at 7:30 pm.
