{"id":170,"date":"2013-02-28T06:02:36","date_gmt":"2013-02-28T13:02:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.alan-rose.com\/wordfest\/?p=170"},"modified":"2013-02-28T06:07:35","modified_gmt":"2013-02-28T13:07:35","slug":"march-wordfest-features-poems-and-short-stories","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alan-rose.com\/wordfest\/march-wordfest-features-poems-and-short-stories\/","title":{"rendered":"March WordFest features poems and short stories"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Next Tuesday, March 5, <strong>MaryEllen Stone<\/strong> will be reading her short story, &#8220;Foreign Feelings,\u201d from the anthology, <i>I Choose You, <\/i>which is listed as &#8220;The best-of-the-best romance short-story contest winners from across the globe.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Her fiction and non-fiction stories have appeared in <i>The Salal Review, Rambunctious Review, Mature Living, Evangel, <\/i>and<i> Seek, <\/i>and her book <i>Run in the Path of Peace-the Secret of Being Content No Matter What<\/i>\u00a0is available in both paperback and as an e-book from Amazon.com.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Linda Eddleston<\/strong>, substitute teacher for the Longview School District, will be sharing an excerpt from the book she is currently writing, titled, <i>My\u00a0Three Friends<\/i>,\u00a0a memoir of childhood\u00a0playmates who\u00a0retain a close friendship\u00a0through their teen years and into their\u00a0adult lives.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Steve Anderson<\/strong> will be reading a selection of his poems. He is the author of <i>Jeremiah&#8217;s Wink<\/i>, a novel featuring a modern-day\u00a0cloistered monk who is a master illuminator of ancient texts and works to solve\u00a0the\u00a0mystery of a long-hidden medieval\u00a0Book of Hours, while experiencing for the first time\u00a0contemporary American society outside his\u00a0monastery walls.\u00a0After a career in long term health care, Steve retired and relocated from Tucson in 2011 to join friends in Longview.<\/p>\n<p>WordFest is a monthly gathering of readers and writers who meet the first Tuesday of each month, 6:00-8:00 pm., at The Brits, 1427 Commerce Avenue, in Longview, 6:00-8:00 PM.<\/p>\n<p>The events are free and open to the public.
